Human Perfection.. What Could Possibly Go Wrong?

Technology is advancing at a rapid pace, almost all things could be made possible, easy and fast. Most of the tasks we undergo could be automated now (no sweat).With this in mind its not far from possible that the Surrogates would be real in the future.

It’s so cool to imagine that we could do whatever we want … look exactly the way we want to…. being invulnerable and as strong as steel… be wherever we want to be…. do all.. while lying comfortably in bed at the safety of our own home..

This is what the movie Surrogates have laid out on us…

At this point people have created products and processes to improve appearance or to add life and also create life.. from the operations for face and body improvements to a life- support machine, and test-tube babies.. there are even rumors of possible human clones..

At this stage, we humans are trying our best to make ourselves perfect. . . And its quite amusing for some people to imagine these kind of such futuristic things..what, with these technology and all? i think it’s so possible…

Despite the benefits we could have out of these advancements.. I think we should put a limit on our explorations especially when it concerns the ethical values and if it will greatly affect the human’s morality. We are starting to get lazier by the day and relying so much on the technology that it yields negative effects .. on our health and on our way of life… what more if we will someday have human surrogates and all we have to do is sit back and take our maintenance… these stuff would prohibit us from living a life… a real life … and that would eliminate God’s gift to us.. our own uniqueness… in this case.. we appear to be stepping aside and giving way to a new creation… giving our world to our own creations… and they will dominate our world and slowly cast us out from the life and the world that God has given us…

Acquaintance Party 2010

he Acquaintance Party 2010 was definitely a blast. The theme is about different films (movies), sci-fi, horror, fiction, etc. The program is entitled “The Premiere”.

Aside from the breath-taking performance of the different batches, the most unforgettable part of the evening is the live band.

The Kreonz band was there and everyone was so ecstatic. U.P. people are such a nice crowd when it comes to concerts and live bands. Everybody enjoyed the songs they played such as Eenie Meenie, Solo, Replay, Tik Tok, and the like. What’s nice about the band is we can relate to the songs they sing. (And the guitarist is cute, too).

The Party was fun, despite the litters on the ground and the malfunctioning sound system that made the music in the dance competition a little bit weird.

CRS: is it really for ease?

W ith the world going modern and high-tech, University of the Philippines would not want to be left behind. U.P. has now a Computerized Registration System, popularly called the CRS. CRS, is a system that facilitates computerized and online management of student and faculty affairs. Responding to the university’s call for computerization, the Department of Computer Science embarked on developing this system as an extension service along with the Student Records System (SRS). Through the CRS, the University Information System can be accessed using a UP Web mail Account. Students can pre-enlist, enlist real-time, and view grades. Faculty also submit schedule of classes and grades through this site. The UP Community has been active users of this computerization project since January 2000. This system is intended to make life easier for us, students, and for the faculty members, too. But, there are some incidences that make this system a burden, rather than a blessing. For instance, there is a brownout during enrollment, so the enrollment would be delayed. Also, the system sometimes malfunctions and is inaccessible at the time you need it the most. During enrollment, the CRS is sooo slow and we have to line up for almost the whole day (in worst cases, it takes more than a day) before we could get enrolled and if you’re lucky enough, when you are the next person in line, the faculty members will close for a lunch break, or sometimes faculty MEETING (which turned out to be faculty EATING) Another problem is we can’t move away from the manual type of registration. I don’t see the point why we have to write the copy of grades manually, let it be checked by some professors and having to go back and forth for the checking and re-checking. I guess it’s all in the CRS and what we only have to do is to enroll there and pay in the cash office. That would absolutely make CRS everybody’s friend (at least in my opinion.) It’s nice to have a registration system that is computerized, though, despite some of these troubles.

That’s why my family invested for 2 houses in it. Now, the price rises to almost 900,000 and it will become more expensive through time. But even if that is the case, I believe that their business woud still be growing for the population grows in a double-triple speed and the need for a convenient shelter rises.
